P90是由比利時的<a title="Fabrique Nationale" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fabrique_Nationale&amp;variant=zh-tw">Fabrique Nationale</a>在1994年推出的軍用小型<a class="mw-redirect" title="衝鋒槍" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E8%A1%9D%E9%8B%92%E6%A7%8D&amp;variant=zh-tw">衝鋒槍</a>。FN最初是以PDW(<a title="個人防衛武器" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E5%80%8B%E4%BA%BA%E9%98%B2%E8%A1%9B%E6%AD%A6%E5%99%A8&amp;variant=zh-tw">個人防衛武器</a>)的名稱推出市場，而現在成為了特種部隊的武器。

它的擊鎚總成與<a class="mw-redirect" title="斯太爾AUG" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E6%96%AF%E5%A4%AA%E7%88%BEAUG&amp;variant=zh-tw">AUG</a>、<a title="FN F2000" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=FN_F2000&amp;variant=zh-tw">FN F2000</a>設計類似，扳機釋放壓力大約8磅。
MC-10-80反射式瞄準鏡是由<a class="new" title="Ring Sights (尚未撰寫)" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ring_Sights&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1">Ring Sights</a>公司專門為FN P90研製的，無法使用於其他槍械。
除PS90以外，各衍生型均可加裝Gemtech<a class="mw-redirect" title="消声器" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E6%B6%88%E5%A3%B0%E5%99%A8&amp;variant=zh-tw">消聲器</a>(model SP-90)。

為取代已過時的<a title="李-恩菲爾德步槍" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9D%8E-%E6%81%A9%E8%8F%B2%E7%88%BE%E5%BE%B7%E6%AD%A5%E6%A7%8D">李-恩菲爾德狙擊步槍</a>（<a class="mw-redirect" title="L42A1" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/L42A1">L42A1</a>），英國于1982年為新的狙擊手武器系統招標。
大多數的AW步槍使用<a title="7.62 NATO" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62_NATO">7.62 NATO</a>步槍彈，但部份也可使用<a class="mw-redirect" title="5.56 NATO" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.56_NATO">5.56 NATO</a>彈。 AW步槍在多個國家中都有列裝，如<a title="英国" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%8B%B1%E5%9B%BD">英國</a>、<a title="澳大利亚" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%BE%B3%E5%A4%A7%E5%88%A9%E4%BA%9A">澳洲</a>、<a title="德国" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%BE%B7%E5%9B%BD">德國</a>、<a title="荷兰" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%8D%B7%E5%85%B0">荷蘭</a>、<a title="俄国" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%BF%84%E5%9B%BD">俄國</a>、<a title="新加坡" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%96%B0%E5%8A%A0%E5%9D%A1">新加坡</a>和<a title="瑞典" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%91%9E%E5%85%B8">瑞典</a>。
<a class="mw-redirect" title="德国联邦国防军" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%BE%B7%E5%9B%BD%E8%81%94%E9%82%A6%E5%9B%BD%E9%98%B2%E5%86%9B">德國聯邦國防軍</a>則選用發射<a class="new" title=".300 Winchester magnum (尚未撰寫)" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=.300_Winchester_magnum&amp;amp;action=edit&amp;amp;redlink=1">.300 Winchester magnum</a>，具備摺疊槍托的AW版本。該步槍使用德國<a class="mw-redirect" title="蔡司" href="http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%94%A1%E5%8F%B8">蔡司</a>生產的瞄準鏡，軍方代號G22（Scharfsch&amp;uuml;tzengewehr 22）。
我們遊戲中 AWP(POLICE)為執法單位的AW改型
