The Japanese colonial period in Taiwan, this building was a hospital opened by Japanese and called Miyahara eye hospital. After WWII, it became Taichung Health Bureau.
Miyahara eye hospital has been damaged over the years, most recently by the devastating earthquake in 1999 and the Kalmaegi Typhoon in 2008.

After reconstruction, it has became the current appearance. Now, this building is selling ice cream, drinks and desserts.
